It's come to my attention that Peaches has been gone quite a long time. Usually he can't stay away from a cause for an hour, let alone a week. I'm sad Jack missed port, too.

I'm good for another drink.

[ She gasped. ] Seriously? We have to change that. Next Port, you owe me.

[ She watched him continue to stand and cleared her throat. ] Soo you're already taller than me. This whole towering thing is somewhat intimidating...

[motions awkwardly] Let's get food then, luv. Less you want me to get it for ya?

[ She lets slip a small laugh. ] I'm not helpless...but thanks for the offer.

[ Claire leads the way and it isn't until they're in line that she says anything. Turning to him, she says, ] So. Last time we saw each other it didn't go so well.

No.. guess it didn't. [he shrugged, grabbing a tray]

[ She seems disappointed. ] That's it? You're not upset or going to expand more on it?

What should I say, no point in arguin' about it, is there?

[ She stares at him. ] You really don't talk much, Spike.

[ Claire grabs her food in a rough, pissy manner. ]

Then why's everyone always tellin' me to shut up, huh? [winces a bit, grabbing something without looking at it] Thought I'd do you a favor.

[ She slams her tray down on the nearest surface and turns on him. ] Spike, if you compare me to someone from back home one more time, I'll hit you. Fair warning.......got it?

[just shakes his head, leading the way back to their table]

Well it's annoying, I'm not like them! You want me to keep comparing you to my ex-boyfriend or my ex-uncle or my dead dad?

[ She huffs, sits down, and pokes at her food. ]

[almost-hisses, his voice too low for anyone else to hear]

Wasn't trying to make a comparison. Was just saying, most people find me bloody annoying. Especially the human-shaped ones.

Forget those people, then. I wouldn't hang out with you so damn much if you annoyed me.

[ She kicks at him for added measure, but it's gentle as she's trying to lighten the mood, ala glaring still. ]

[ Lowering her own voice, she mutters, ] Aren't we, like, BFFs by now?

Owww.. [he complains before eyeing her] BFFs? As in- yeah? You and me?

[ She sticks out her tongue. ] No, some other Warden and me, yesyouandme! I mean...we're at least friends. I painted your damn nails. And we swapped secrets.

Right?

[nods, a slight smile on] Right.

Well, then...quit pushing me away or whatever, [ she grumbled, finally attacking her food and eating it. ]

Anything happen to you in Port?

Er... yeah. I so don't wanna talk about it though.

[ She raised a brow. ]

Can I ask why not?

[grumbles] No.

.. Was hit by a love arrow.

[ She winced. ]

If you don't want to tell me who, that's fine. Sorry, though.

[ And she was. Hadn't anyone who'd been affected have a positive outcome, though? ]

Yeah, takin' that to me grave. Well.. third time's the charm, anyway.

Take it you had a better time? [genuine interest in his tone]

[ She dropped her eyes all together and spoke in a soft, defeated tone. ]

Not really. [ Paused, pulled her lips into her mouth. ] It was nice at first, but I more or less got married? and...he was, is, pissed about it and broke all things off.

[voice low, leaning across the table] Did you fancy him?

[ She doesn't withdraw, but her eyes remain curiously focused on the table between them. ] I did. A...a lot.

[ Her voice is tiny and broken. She speaks softly to keep it from cracking and she blinks rapidly so as not to cry again. ]
